Consistency

Consistency is the key to creating real, lasting change.

You’ve probably experienced this before: you’ve identified something in your life you want to improve, brainstormed plans and creative ideas, and maybe even taken action for a while. But often, progress stops—not because the goal wasn’t worthwhile, but because consistency wasn’t there to back it up.

Showing up every day, whether you feel like it or not, is the secret ingredient. Every day doesn’t have to be perfect. Your workouts don’t always have to be your best, not every work session needs to feel groundbreaking, and not every study session has to end with complete understanding. What matters most is that you keep showing up, building healthy habits, and getting 1% better each day. It is the little things that we do day in and day out over time, that ultimately lead us to our goals.

Here’s the truth we all know deep down: you can’t create change by staying the same. It’s easy to ignore this fact and hope for transformation without action, but in the end it is up to us to take control and take action to do the things we know will make us a better person.

Imagine what could happen if you committed to consistency and patience for one year.

• Want to build a healthier, more active lifestyle? Create a plan that is sustainable for your lifestyle and stick to it for one year. At the end of that year, you will have made way more progress than you would have sporadically working out only when you have excess time and motivation.

• Have a dream to start a business or create something meaningful? Dedicate even a few minutes every day to focused work. In a year, you’ll be amazed at the progress you’ve made toward bringing your vision to life.

While I’m not saying everything will be accomplished in one year, I promise you’ll make progress. You’ll reach milestones, set new goals, develop skills, connect with inspiring people, and learn how to be disciplined and consistent.

Breaking through the initial resistance to change can feel uncomfortable—it’s normal, and it’s human. But don’t shy away from discomfort. We must go through a little discomfort in order to become more resilient and to grow.

So, what will you commit to today? Remember: the first step isn’t to get it perfect; it’s just to get started—and keep going.

Stay Healthy,

Thomas Stevens
